Carpooling is emerging as an ecological and economical solution to the challenges of urban mobility. To encourage this practice, a variety of grants and incentives have been introduced. At the heart of these initiatives, the Carpooling Bonus stands out as a major incentive. In addition to this bonus, other financial incentives and car-sharing incentive programs exist, testifying to the willingness of authorities and companies to promote car-sharing.
In this article, we’ll explore the different forms of assistance available, how they work and the impact they have on promoting carpooling. For more information on the Carpooling Bonus, visit our Carpooling Bonus page.
The Carpooling Bonus is one of the main levers used to encourage carpooling in France. This incentive aims to reward drivers and passengers who opt for carpooling as a means of transport. By opting for this more environmentally-friendly mode of travel, users can benefit from a financial bonus, facilitating the adoption of more responsible behavior on the road. The Carpooling Bonus, managed by the Moovance platform, is easily accessible and aims to democratize carpooling, thus contributing to national environmental objectives.
The Carpooling Bonus is specifically designed to encourage carpooling over short distances (less than 80 km). It offers a financial incentive of €100, paid in two instalments to encourage continued carpooling. After the first carpooling trip, the user receives €25, then a further €75 after the tenth trip. This structure is designed to reward users and build loyalty, while helping them to integrate carpooling into their daily travel routine, thus contributing to a positive environmental impact.
Among the many schemes designed to encourage carpooling are the following:
To benefit from the Carpooling Bonus via Moovance, simply register on the application, which is free of charge. Once registered, log on to “Mon Compte Mobilité” via France Connect from the application, then enter your telephone number and driving license. Once you’ve validated your carpooling journeys within 24 hours, you’ll receive your reward within 7 days. One of the great things about Moovance is that you can carpool with your friends or family without having to make a financial transaction, making the experience more user-friendly and accessible. Moovance simplifies the process, while allowing you to carpool with complete confidence.
The various grants and subsidies offered by the State and local authorities encourage car-sharing, making the practice more attractive to users. The main objective is threefold: to reduce CO2 emissions, promote savings for users and relieve traffic congestion.
Carpooling makes optimum use of vehicles on the road, reducing CO2 emissions per person transported. By sharing journeys, fewer cars are needed to transport the same number of people, helping to reduce the carbon footprint. What’s more, car-sharing encourages a reduction in the use of individual vehicles, bringing people’s behavior into line with national environmental objectives.
The subsidies and incentives associated with carpooling reduce the cost of transport for users. The Carpooling Bonus is a perfect example, making carpooling more financially attractive. Savings on fuel, tolls and parking costs are major incentives to carpool. Drivers can amortize the costs associated with the use of their vehicle, while passengers benefit from a less expensive means of transport.
By reducing the number of vehicles on the road, car-sharing contributes directly to reducing road congestion, especially at peak times. Less traffic also means fewer accidents and better traffic flow, resulting in shorter, less stressful journeys for everyone. Reducing road congestion also promotes better air quality by cutting traffic-related pollutant emissions.
